About
I'm Norbu Tsering, a software engineer in Seattle. I worked at AWS on Route 53 for six years, got laid off in 2025, and spent the time since building things that actually matter to me.
I got into self-hosting after leaving AWS — running local LLMs on a pair of GPUs in my home office, setting up speech-to-text and code agents, and generally figuring out what happens when you don't have a cloud budget.
I'm working on a SaaS platform for small museums — the kind that can barely afford a website, let alone enterprise CRM software. It's been harder than I expected, but I've learned more building it than I did in my last two years at Amazon.
When I'm not coding, I'm learning Korean, trying to get faster at 5k runs, and writing. A lot of what's on this blog is me trying to make sense of the gap between where I was and where I'm going.
